(Languages of this post: Interlingua, English)

“Interlingua multilingue,” a completely free resource for students of Interlingua and its source languages that is instantly available to everyone

The purpose of “Interlingua multilingue” is to give the world a simple and free resource for students of Interlingua and its source languages that provides for them an abundance of interesting and important parallel texts in Interlingua and at least one of its source languages.

The study of parallel texts is an excellent way of learning rather similar languages because with them a person can easily identify the identical, similar, and different characteristics of such language and in the process develop more easily a more profound knowledge of them (a passive knowledge, naturally, is easier to get than an active knowledge, which requires more intensive practice).

The texts of “Interlingua multilingue” can be used as a supplement to other resources for students of these languages (grammars and conversation and composition courses of various kinds that are available on line or in traditional classes).

There now is an abundance of these texts in “Interlingua multilingue” (almost 650), and their number will continue to grow. They are immediately available in a format that is easy to read and copy, and all of you are welcome to use them in your studies and to copy them to other sites (with or without additional emendations).

The internet is now able to provide a variety of freely available resources for language students who have the persistence to find them. For students of Dante’s “Divine Comedy,” for example, there are now annotated bilingual texts of parts of this classical work in Interlingua and Italian http://www.geocities.com/reenbru/dante/comedia.htm) provided by Bruno Zani, an Italian who also has also contributed versions of some of the texts on this site in his native language.

At this moment I am also looking for other collaborators for “Interlingua multilingue” who are native speakers of its source languages, especially someone from France. These collaborators can translate articles that I have elaborated, or they can prepare their own bilingual articles in Interlingua and their native languages. If you want to be a volunteer for this project, write me at hkyson@gmail.com. (Harleigh Kyson Jr.)
